2006 Citroen C5 1.6 hdi running on Biodiesel
« on: May 09, 2019, 10:59:19 AM »
Hi All not been on the forum for a while, I have been building my bio plant, I have now completed my first batch (100 litres). I am now running my car on a 40 litres biodiesel and 20 litres Diesel mix to see how it runs and all appears good.

I took the car down to my MOT man yesterday for an emissions test?

Boston 1 is the test result from the previous MOT.

Boston 2 is the test result from yesterday.

Looks like a good reduction from what I can make out. Good result.

Thank You For the reply,

I am hoping to run p100 and would like to see the mean opacity come down to around 0.0?

Hi Mark, have a look at some of the Smoke Density readings we got with the simple methanol/water injection here.

FOC water tests by Sandy brae or Karl Fischer for forum members.

Good result. You can still get some soot with biodiesel so don't set your expectations too high.

One word of caution would be blending biodiesel and fossil fuels - sometimes this can cause dropout in the fuel, only is best to mix outside the tank and stand for a while - if you don't want a blocked fuel filter. Obviously not an issue with b100. Most likely not a problem anyway but it's worth mentioning just in case.

Hi All not been on for a while so here's an update on my car running B100. I took the car in for is new MOT last month and emissions test showed mean opacity value of 0.13 {m-1] I don't think I will get any better than this.
